A challenge for creative chefs

FOLLOWING its resounding success in the past two years, the Philips Healthy Cookout is returning for the third consecutive year to continue its objective of challenging Malaysians to be creative and innovative in coming up with recipes using the Philips rice cooker.

The challenge requires interested participants to send in their own recipes, using the Philips rice cooker and other Philips kitchen appliances. Participants are required to prepare a meal that consists of one rice dish, one cake, one main dish and one beverage.

(Incidentally, the Philips rice cooker, with its multi-cooking functions, can also be used to cook a host of other dishes, like baking a cake and cooking casserole rice.)

The closing date for the submission of entries is June 24.

To be eligible, one would need to buy any Philips kitchen appliance available at any Carrefour outlet. The proof of purchase, together with the warranty card, must be submitted together with the recipe creation to:

Philips “Healthy Cookout 2009!” Cooking Competition,

Philips Malaysia Sdn Bhd,

Philips Consumer Lifestyle,

Level 9, Menara Axis,

No. 2 Jalan 51A/223,

46100 Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Each proof of purchase allows for one recipe entry.

Eighteen participants will be shortlisted and they will be required to cook their creations in front of a panel of judges, including Malaysia’s Celebrity Chef and Philips ambassador chef Zam, in the qualifying rounds.

The champion and first runner-up from each of three qualifying rounds will then take part in the final, scheduled to take place on Aug 2.

The first qualifying round will be held on July 5 at Carrefour Wangsa Maju; the second, on July 12 at Carrefour Putrajaya; and the third on July 19 at Carrefour Subang Jaya. The final will take place on Aug 2 at Carrefour Tropicana City Mall. All events will be held from 1pm to 5.30pm.

Exciting prizes are up for grabs, including Philips 32-inch LCD plus home theatre system.

The champions will receive a cash prize of RM3,000 and a gift hamper from Carrefour. Other prizes include Philips home appliances and gift hampers from Carrefour, Barrila pasta and pasta sauce, Colavita olive oil and Planta margarine.
