Death of Army cadet undergoing officer training under investigation

PETALING JAYA: The case where a 25-year-old Armed Forces cadet died after allegedly being abused while undergoing reserve officers training is under investigation.

The Armed Forces said that the cadet's death is being investigated by the Air Force's Provost Marshal's Branch.

"The investigation will be conducted thoroughly and impartially. Legal action will be taken against those involved if found guilty," it said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 27).

The Armed Forces urged the public to allow authorities to investigate the matter and not speculate on the case, adding that it would provide updates from time to time.

A news portal reported that a father had alleged his son had died during Army training.

The father claimed that his son had his chest stepped on and was "ridden" like a horse by his trainer.

He also claimed that his son was left unattended for 30 minutes in the middle of a field after fainting under the hot sun.
