DPM, Cabinet ministers convey National Journalists' Day greetings


IPOH: The contributions and sacrifice of media practitioners to the development of the country and its people have been recognised by Malaysia’s leaders.

Several senior government leaders expressed their appreciation towards the hard work put in by journalists and media practitioners in conjunction with the National Journalists’ Day (Hawana) 2023 on Sunday (May 28), including Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who posted a video on the Rural and Regional Development Ministry’s Facebook page.

"To all my journalist friends who are the unsung heroes, thank you for all your contributions towards the country’s development and the Madani community.

"Continue on with your writing and providing quality information. Practise journalistic ethics in this borderless world. Happy National Journalists’ Day from me,” he said.

The three-day Hawana 2023 celebration culminated in the highlight event on Sunday, which was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The actual gazetted date for National Journalists Day is on May 29, which is the publication date of the first Utusan Melayu edition on May 29, 1939.

Another senior official to post her greetings was Deputy Communications and Digital Minister Teo Nie Ching, who said that journalists’ contribution in spreading accurate and fast news even in today’s digital age was deeply appreciated.

"Congratulations and thank you to the Communications and Digital Ministry, especially the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) that has gone all out to organise Hawana 2023, with the support of many local and international media organisations and sponsors.

"Happy National Journalists’ Day to all media practitioners and thank you for playing your important role in the development of our country,” she said.

Meanwhile, Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari conveyed his greetings to all media practitioners, especially in Selangor, on his Facebook page.

"Thank you for your dedication and commitment in presenting the latest news and information,” he added. - Bernama
