THOUSANDS gathered at Dataran Putrajaya to mark the 69th National Day, transforming the nation’s administrative capital into a sea of flags and colours for a lively celebration.

The atmosphere was charged with national pride as crowds waved the Jalur Gemilang and shouted Merdeka!

The programme featured cultural performances, marches, and colourful traditional costumes, highlighting Malaysia’s diverse heritage and multicultural identity.

The celebration, themed Malaysia Madani: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati, began with a ceremony by uniformed personnel followed by stage performances and a march past.

Joining the parade were service animals from agencies such as the police, Prisons Department, Customs Department, Fire and Rescue Department and Malaysian Armed Forces.

As the celebrations unfolded, Dataran Putrajaya became a focal point for Malaysians to reflect on the country’s journey since independence while looking towards the future.

The gathering also underscored the significance of National Day in bringing people of different backgrounds together.

For many there, the celebration was an opportunity to express pride, honour the sacrifices of earlier generations and reaffirm hopes for a peaceful, prosperous and united Malaysia.
