MORE than 200 women aged 16 and above took part in an initiative designed to increase safety and awareness via educational talks and practical demonstrations.
The 9th Women’s Street Crime Awareness Campaign was organised by Allianz Malaysia Bhd and Road Safety Marshal Club (RSMC) at Wisma Huazong YTL Hall in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.
The programme encompassed safety knowledge and risks, as well as emergency preparedness.
Among the topics covered during the programme included home break-in, snatch theft, road scam, stalking, carjacking, accident response and self-defence, the insurer said in a statement.
This year’s programme introduced a dedicated awareness and dialogue session to complement the practical training elements that have been a hallmark of the campaign.
The enhanced format provided participants with an opportunity to discuss real-life experiences and safety concerns directly with RSMC experts, who in turn offered practical guidance and solutions.
Allianz Malaysia chief executive officer Sean Wang said, “One of the most encouraging outcomes from this year’s programme was seeing community leaders express interest in bringing similar initiatives to their own neighbourhoods.
“That is exactly the kind of impact we hope to achieve.
“Success is not measured solely by the number of participants we reach, but by how far the knowledge travels beyond the event itself.”
RSMC founder and president K. Balasupramaniam said, “Street crime awareness is about empowering individuals with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make informed decisions when faced with uncertainty.
“We hope participants gain practical takeaways that not only enhance their personal safety, but also encourage them to become advocates for safety within their families and communities,” he added.
