SHAH Alam City Council (MBSA) is supporting Selangor’s athletes as the adoptive sponsor for five sporting disciplines at Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2026.
Mayor Datuk Zabidah Safar said the city council would back teams in men’s and women’s indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and tennis as part of MBSA’s commitment to nurturing sporting excellence.
To kickstart this support, MBSA presented RM34,000 in cash alongside sports equipment, T-shirts and backpacks to team representatives during a high-tea ceremony.
The event was witnessed by National Sports Council sports development deputy director Muhamad Azri Mohd Ramli, MBSA councillors and heads of department.
Of the total financial aid, the men’s and women’s indoor volleyball teams received RM8,000 each.
The beach volleyball contingent received a total of RM3,000, while the artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and tennis squads were allocated RM5,000 each.
“As an adoptive sponsor, MBSA will support the teams throughout the tournament by providing training facilities, sports equipment, financial assistance and other essential requirements for athletes, coaches and team officials,” said Zabidah.
She added that MBSA hoped the contribution would motivate the athletes to deliver outstanding performances and secure excellent results.
Selangor will host the 22nd Sukma from Aug 15 to 24, followed by the Para Sukma from Sept 5 to 14.
