MELAKA: Acclaimed Indian classical dance maestro Datuk Ramli Ibrahim will bring his celebrated production "Radhe! Radhe! 2.0" to the historic city next month.
The performance will be staged at Auditorium Panggung Sari (JKKN) Taman Budaya Negeri, Jalan Tun Abdul Razak here on May 23.
The event is organised by the Lions Club of Ayer Keroh in collaboration with the Sutra Foundation.
The event's organising chairman Dr S. Sendhil Kumar Somasundaram said the event aims to honour Ramli and the Sutra Foundation for their role in preserving classical arts and culture, while also raising funds for underprivileged communities in the state.
"Students from needy families will also be sponsored to attend the performance so they can appreciate the beauty of Odissi,” he said on Friday (April 24).
Dr Sendhil Kumar added that Ramli’s longstanding contribution to Indian classical dance has made him a key figure in introducing Odissi to wider audiences, while supporting the club’s fundraising efforts.
He said the Lions Club of Ayer Keroh continues to play a pioneering role in the state in advancing humanitarian and community service initiatives.
