Selangor targets nine million tourists in 2026, says exco man

SELANGOR is targeting nine million tourists to the state this year, said Datuk Ng Suee Lim.

Selangor local government and tourism committee chairman said the target is an increase from last year’s eight million target.

“Selangor recorded 6.4 million tourists in the first three quarter of last year.

“While the numbers of the last quarter have not been tabulated, we are confident to achieve last year’s target,” he said in his speech during the opening ceremony of Selangor New Village Fiesta “Jom Thit Tho Lah!” at SJKC Pandamaran B, Klang, Port Klang.

“To achieve this objective, cooperation and support from all industries are essential to ensure that Selangor’s tourism sector remains dynamic and continues to capture the interest of travellers.

“This effort also aims to bolster the state's economy and support communities throughout Selangor—including the New Villages,” he said.

The Selangor New Village Fiesta 2026 is aimed at strengthening Selangor’s new villages’ identity, boost economic growth and solidify Selangor’s position as a valued destination for cultural and community-based tourism.

The fiesta is held today and tomorrow, featuring 69 food and merchandise stalls that showcase new village products.
