MPAJ investigating cause of landslide in Taman Bukit Permai

AN investigation is underway to determine the cause of a landslide at a slope between Taman Bukit Permai and Taman Saga in Ampang Jaya, Selangor.

Teratai assemblyman Yew Jia Haur said he would call for a meeting with the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) and technical agencies to get a clearer picture of the issue.

“Currently, MPAJ personnel are onsite to carry out preliminary assessments of the cause and damage to surrounding areas.

“We are waiting for further advice before we can decide on the next course of action,” he said during a visit to the site of the incident on Sunday (Jan 18).

He added that the priority was to identify the source of streams of water that were flowing down the exposed soil on the slope.

The incident on Sunday morning saw one car parked by the roadside above the slope in Taman Mega damaged.

No homes were affected, or casualties reported.

Checks by StarMetro found workers from Indah Water Konsortium and MPAJ Skuad Pantas working to secure the slope.

A stretch along Jalan Saga 13 was made off-limits with yellow tape to facilitate the ongoing works.
