‘Teamwork, collective effort key to school community’s success’

SIBU Bishop Joseph Hii believes that teamwork and collective effort are the key to success for SMK St Elizabeth, an all-girls secondary school located at Jalan Oya.

“While individual students or teachers might be recognised for their achievements, every award ultimately reflects the collective effort of the entire school community,” he said at the school’s annual prize-giving ceremony.

“Each and every one of you has worked hard.

“Although one person may receive the excellence award, that recognition represents teamwork by everyone.

“Success is always the result of cooperation.”

Hii said that when SMK St Elizabeth won awards whether at the district, national or international level, the honour belonged to the whole school, not just the individual recipient.

Hii, who is the school’s board of management chairman, reminded students that teamwork and a spirit of unity were central to the school’s identity and should continue to be its guiding principle.

“Today’s event is not only for the award recipients, but for all who have worked hard for the school and society.”

School principal Chee Hue Yiang said a total of 223 students received certificates, of which 210 were recipients of excellent academic awards.

“We are very proud to recognise the 32 top students who achieved 9As and above in last year’s Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination,” she said.

The Dr Teh Lee Gek Award for excellent SPM results went to Chloe Ling You Xuan and Tiong Kah Lin, who achieved 11As in their SPM exam.

The Dr Teh Kok Chiang Award for outstanding all-round student went to Cindy Hii Ru Jing.
