Participants of MBSJ’s Mega Cleanup Programme at Hutan Bandar Recreation Park in Subang Jaya.
A total of 528 people took part in Subang Jaya City Council’s (MBSJ) Mega Cleanup Programme in conjunction with World Cleanup Day 2025.
The event saw the participation of various parties including staff of MBSJ, KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM), Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) and Lembaga Zakat Selangor, as well as residents from surrounding neighbourhoods.
The event kicked off with a symbolic tree-planting session at Taman Rekreasi Hutan Bandar USJ 3C, led by MBSJ department heads, officers from KDEBWM as well as representatives of Subang Jaya Residents’ Representative Council Zone 4.
The atmosphere was further enhanced by a lively morning exercise performance featuring line dancing by senior citizens from Subang Jaya Senior Citizens Activity Centre (Pawe).
This year’s programme was notable for its wide reach, as it was held simultaneously across 14 different locations under MBSJ’s jurisdiction.
Their combined efforts resulted in the collection of an impressive 10,208.33kg of waste.
The haul comprised 1,029.03kg of recyclable waste, 7,926.90kg of non-recyclable waste, 283.79kg of e-waste and 968.61kg of used cooking oil.
Several awareness and recycling programmes were also held to educate the public on sustainable practices.

MK Sustainable Scrap Sdn Bhd handled e-waste collection.
The public also benefitted from free distribution of abate to control mosquito breeding, a dengue prevention exhibition and a registration counter for the KDEBWM’s i-Clean System mobile application.
