KLANG: Upgrading works costing more than RM3mil have been completed in the immediate vicinity of Istana Alam Shah in preparation for the upcoming royal wedding.

Klang mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain said landscape beautification works, including pathway improvements, had gone on as planned for the royal wedding ceremony of Crown Prince Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on Oct 2.

“Even the lighting decorations look great. More than RM3mil has been spent to spruce up the area around Istana Alam Shah. We still have some final touches to do for the flowering plants,” he said after conducting a check at the venue on Monday (Sept) afternoon.

“Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) oversees the protocol roads, including Jalan Istana. Our Landscape and Environmental Services Departments will ensure the routes involved are beautified and kept clean,” he added after the council full board meeting on Monday.

Abd Hamid added that the departments had carried out all the upgrades, including the installation of decorative lights at Jalan Kota and Jalan Istana in Klang.

On Sept 22, the Selangor Palace announced that Tengku Amir Shah would wed Afzaa Fadini Datuk Abdul Aziz on Oct 2.

According to a statement issued by Selangor Ruler’s private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani, the solemnisation ceremony will be held at the Royal Palace Mosque, Istana Alam Shah, Klang.

The wedding reception and royal banquet, meanwhile, will be held at Balairung Seri and Balai Santapan Diraja, Istana Alam Shah, on Oct 22.

Meanwhile, several main roads in Klang will be closed in conjunction with the royal wedding ceremony on Oct 2, from 7am until the ceremony ends.

The affected stretches include Jalan Tengku Diaudin to Jalan Istana, Jalan Istana to Bulatan Simpang Lima, Jalan Istana to Jalan Stadium Sultan Suleiman, Jalan Istana to Lorong Tingkat, Jalan Istana to Lorong Pegawai, Jalan Istana to Jalan Tengku Kelana 2, as well as Jalan Bulatan Simpang Lima to Jalan Bukit Istana. Jalan Datuk Hamzah to Jalan Tengku Kelana and Jalan Raja Jumaat to Jalan Istana will be closed in stages.

Abd Hamid added that the council has issued a notice to all government premises, including retail businesses, stalls, schools, educational institutions, and places of worship, to ensure cleanliness in their immediate surroundings.
