An amateur pickleball tournament in Kuala Lumpur saw the participation of 72 players, including students from Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT).

The event at a pickleball and padel court in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, was organised by Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Young Professional Bureau of Federal Territories MCA, and Junior Chamber International Entrepreneur Metropolitan Kuala Lumpur.

The tournament, which saw participants playing mixed doubles, was supported by MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng, who sponsored the cash prizes and was guest of honour.

“Pickleball is a healthy and enjoyable sport that not only improves fitness but also strengthens community bonds,” said Wee.

The winning team, Madness, walked away with a cash prize of RM1,000.

First runner-up Let’s Go received RM800 and second runner-up ABC went home with RM500.

In addition to the prizes, participants also received jerseys, medals, souvenirs and goodie bags.

A fruit concentrate brand sponsored the drinks and goodie bags.

Expressing their appreciation for the support, the organisers announced that the tournament would become an annual event to attract more people to embrace pickleball.
