RESIDENTS of Mulia Residences Phase Two in Cyberjaya, Selangor, held a durian feast to foster neighbourliness ahead of National Day.
Programme director Melvin Paul said the initiative was carried out for the second consecutive year following its success and encouraging turnout last year.
“Over 200 residents, friends and relatives attended.
“The main aim is to foster closer ties among residents from different backgrounds and get to know each other better,” he said.
Paul said the programme also saw good coordination and the spirit of gotong-royong among organising members and residents.
He said some residents contributed foodstuff while others assisted in decorations and cooked additional dishes.
“Besides the King of Fruits from multiple varieties, rambutan and mangosteen were also served.
“Everyone had a whale of a time and enjoyed the meal and fruits available,” he said.
Paul said the durian shells were then collected in bulk and sent to a factory to be recycled for energy production.
“This will help to divert waste from landfills and help preserve the environment,” he added.
