Fun vibes, circus in Elmina to mark township anniversary

Hot air balloon rides, fun lake activities and circus performances await visitors in City of Elmina month-long anniversary celebrations.

Celebrations begin today for a Shah Alam township in conjunction with its first anniversary.

The month-long festivities will see arts, culture and community-led activities held at Elmina Lakeside Mall until Sept 1.

The community hub for some 870,000 City of Elmina residents is the second wholly-owned mall by township developer Sime Darby Property Bhd.

Leading the activities will be the world-famous Swiss Dream Circus that will feature an all-new cast and production.

Audiences will be treated to “Passion – The Greatest Show in Town”, a showcase of up to 10 breathtaking acts by acrobats, aerialists and other performers.

Among these will be Cirque du Soleil star clown Misha and a 14-member troupe delivering a total of 27 shows until Aug 24.

Circus tickets start at RM49 and can be booked via letresor.sales.ticketsearch.com/sales/salesevent/150649

There are also rewards for visitors through a gift with purchase promotion until Aug 10.

Other anniversary activities include a life-sized Monopoly Run tomorrow.

Themed around the iconic board game, the event will offer three race categories – 10km run for ages 16 upwards, 5km fun run (ages 13 above) and 2km dash for children aged 12 and below.

For fans of the arts, Sime Darby Foundation Art Festival will make its final stop at the mall on Aug 9.

This free, community-focused event marks the 10th anniversary of the festival, with interactive workshops, live performances, and art installations.

The township celebrations will close with a Merdeka Eve spectacular on Aug 30, featuring an open-air Selangor Symphony Orchestra (SSO) performance paired with a dazzling drone and fireworks display.

Visitors can also enjoy hot air balloon rides, flying fox challenges, and lake activities such as swift boats.
