A SHOPPING centre in Kuala Lumpur welcomes the festive season with a vibrant celebration of heritage, unity and timeless traditions.

Inspired by the warmth of kampung life, Sime Darby Property’s KL East Mall has collaborated with renowned local apparel brand Khatam to transform the main atrium into a nostalgic yet lively space, where families and friends come together to embrace the essence of Hari Raya.

From now until April 13, visitors can immerse themselves in a festive atmosphere adorned with intricate batik motifs, woven ketupat decorations and classic wooden structures, evoking a deep sense of nostalgia and togetherness.

A key highlight of celebration, themed “Jalinan Tradisi” is an exclusive mini showcase by Malaysia’s legendary singer-songwriter Datuk M. Nasir.

The occasion marks a meaningful collaboration between Khatam and the iconic artist.

Shoppers were treated to a soulful 15-minute live performance, reviving timeless classics that resonated deeply with the audience and captured the essence of Raya nostalgia.

Apart from Nasir’s showcase, Khatam, together with KL East Mall, curated a vibrant lineup of cultural performances throughout the Raya celebration, featuring a graceful Malay dance performance by young talents from Lantera Seni troupe, rhythmic beats of the gamelan, soothing melodies of keroncong, energetic Zapin dance and lively sounds of cak lempong.

These performances highlighted Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, bringing traditions to life in an immersive and meaningful way.

Shoppers also had the chance to participate in mini tournaments featuring traditional games such as batu seremban, ketupat weaving, samping styling and congkak.

These activities provided a fun, interactive and rewarding way to celebrate tradition while enjoying the festive atmosphere.

Beyond the festivities, KL East Mall offers everything from festive treats to stylish attire to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Shoppers can also explore leading local and international brands, including CalaQisya, Naelofar, Asal, Bayu Somerset, H&M and Whimsigirl, alongside luxury leather goods from Kaufmann.
