SOME 308 units of Rumah Transit Bangsa Johor (RTBJ) have been completed up to November.
Johor housing and local government committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor said the number comprises RTBJ Taman Kempas Utama (92 units) and RTBJ Bandar Putra Kulai (216 units) with allocations amounting to more than RM14mil.
He said RTJB Bandar Putra is located in Senai under Kulai district.
“It is the second RTBJ project after the one in Taman Kempas Utama in Johor Baru,” he said when contacted by StarMetro.
Mohd Jafni, who is also Bukit Permai assemblyman, added that RTBJ Bandar Putra was by a local developer and the project had been completed and attained the Certificate of Completion and Compliance in December.
“RTBJ Bandar Putra is different from the one at Kempas Utama because this project has town houses while the other one comprises apartment units.
“Each town house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms with a floor area of 720sq ft and 216 units have been built.”
Mohd Jafni said tenants would only need to pay a monthly rental of RM550, which is 20% to 30% lower than that of surrounding areas.
He said this was in line with the state government’s objective of establishing RTBJ to ease living costs, especially for the middle and low-income groups.
“The RTBJ scheme, which falls under the purview of Johor Housing Development Corporation (PKPNJ), provides lower rental compared to the market rate.
“It comes with financial incentives through a savings fund as well as green-lane facilities to make it easier for participants to apply for Rumah Mampu Milik Johor (RMMJ) without needing to go through a balloting process,” he said.
Mohd Jafni added that RTBJ was an initiative by Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi to provide eligible folk with temporary transit houses.
“Applicants can rent a unit for up to five years.”
Mohd Jafni said another 230 units are still under construction involving RTBJ Taman Laman Indah in Iskandar Puteri with 100 units, RTBJ Taman Tasek Indah in Kluang (92 units) and RTBJ Mutiara Rini in Johor Baru (38 units).
He added that there would be two more RTBJ projects – RTBJ Taman Nusa Sentral in Iskandar Puteri (71 units) and RTBJ Bandar Penawar in Pengerang (60 units).
The RTBJ initiative was introduced by the state government in 2023.
