Kuala Lumpur hotel delivers festive cheer to home for special women

Santa Grand Signature Kuala Lumpur brought some cheer to residents of Asrama Cahaya Rumah Wanita Cacat Infant Jesus Convent during the Christmas season.

The non-profit home in Bukit Nanas, Kuala Lumpur, caters to women with disabilities ranging from hearing, speech and sight impairments to mental disabilities.

Twenty-three women aged above 60 have lived there since they were children.

Retired nuns and caretakers maintain the home with their own savings as well as funds from Welfare Department and public donations.

The hotel’s culinary team, led by chef Jailani Mehat, cooked a sumptuous lunch for residents comprising porridge, braised chicken, herbal chicken soup, sandwiches, fried mee hoon and fruits.

The hotel’s team also treated the residents to some carolling, and together with hotel general manager Yeow Hock Siew, chatted with them during the visit.

At the end of the event, the hotel team presented gifts of adult diapers and powdered milk to the home.
