M’sia-China relations shine at gala

A GALA dinner marked the conclusion of the 5th World Association Presidents’ Conference (WAPC) in Kuala Lumpur, a historic event held outside China for the first time.

The glittering celebration, attended by over 700 guests, also commemorated the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations.

The evening featured an exquisite eight-course feast alongside a vibrant cultural showcase.

Guests were enthralled by performances of the 24-festive drums, traditional dances and a harmonious musical ensemble, creating an immersive cultural experience.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was guest of honour, with MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong serving as the evening’s host.

Other distinguished attendees included China’s ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing, Malaysia-China Friendship Association president Datuk Abdul Majid Khan, WAPC organising committee chairman Liu Jiang and China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce president Ni Qingjiu.

Senior MCA leaders including deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon and secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon were also present to lend their support to the event held at Wisma MCA in Kuala Lumpur.

The gala dinner served to mark five decades of fruitful collaboration and mutual respect between the two countries.It also symbolised a shared commitment to fostering global partnerships through initiatives like WAPC, which brought together leaders from various associations worldwide.
