THE new Shah Alam Sports Complex (SASC) is projected to be completed by 2027, provided the project development agreement is signed by the year end.

Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) chief executive officer Saipolyazan M. Yusop said the organisation was optimistic about finalising the agreement within the year.

He was responding to Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari who had said on Nov 19 that the demolition of Stadium Shah Alam, in preparation for the construction of the new SASC, was expected to be finished by June next year.

“The demolition work has reached 50% and is ahead of schedule.

“So far, the demolition work is progressing smoothly, adhering to the specifications and safety standards approved by MBSA (Shah Alam City Council) and relevant agencies.

“Construction can begin once the demolition is completed,” Saipolyazan said during an event where three laptops were donated to low-income families in Paya Jaras by Yayasan MBI chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor.

He said each laptop cost RM2,000 and was part of Yayasan MBI’s programme to contribute RM150,000 worth of devices to B40 students.

Earlier, Saipolyazan and MBI officers visited and donated RM500 to five families affected by the floods in Kampung Paya Jaras Hilir in October. ― By MEGAT SYAHAR
