THOSE wanting to trade at popular Ramadan bazaars in Ampang Jaya next year will need to pay extra.

For the first time, Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) is introducing a new “elite” category for temporary trading licences at competitive bazaar locations.

The locations are at Padang Perbandaran Pandan Indah, Jalan Melawati 1A in Taman Melawati and Jalan AU1D in Taman Keramat Permai.

MPAJ, in a media statement, said the new category was only for the three bazaars that typically attracted bigger crowds.

The price difference between a temporary licence for “elite” Ramadan bazaars and regular ones is RM50.

The licence fee for food and beverage stalls at the “elite” bazaars is RM498, while those selling sugarcane and coconut drinks will be charged RM528.

In comparison, the fee is RM448 and RM478 respectively at the other bazaar locations.

Next year, MPAJ is hosting bazaars at only 16 locations (see graphic) with 884 lots.

Of the allocated lots, 292 are located at the three “elite” bazaars.

In comparison, there were 17 locations and 934 lots allocated for this year’s bazaars.

“Applications for MPAJ 2025 Ramadan bazaars are now open until Nov 29.

“Each licence application submitted must include proof of typhoid vaccination that is valid throughout the duration of the 2025 Ramadan bazaar,” MPAJ said.

Balloting will be held from Dec 2 to 10.
