Mah Sing Group Bhd has successfully completed the allocation process for its 253 public units of Rumah Mampu Milik Johor (RMMJ) Phase 2 in Meridin East, Johor.

The allocation was carried out through a ballot for purchasers.

Section 1A and 1B of RMMJ comprise 316 units, with 63 units reserved for special categories like the B40 group, civil servants, military personnel, and people with disabilities.

There were 2,318 registrants, nearly 10 times the number of units offered over the weekend.

Due to the overwhelming demand for affordable housing in the region, RMMJ 2 Section 1C and 1D, comprising 392 units, was targeted for launch in the third quarter this year, the company said in a media statement.

Buyers who were successful in the balloting process received their certificate in a ceremony attended by Tiram ssemblyman Azizul Bachok and Johor Housing Development Corporation chief operating officer Dr Mohd Shahrizan Sahid.

Mah Sing Property Subsidiaries chief executive officer Benjamin Ong congratulated those who were successful in the ballot.

“Mah Sing is proud to support and contribute to the state government’s vision of providing affordable homes.

“We are targeting to launch the next phase of RMMJ soon,” he added.

RMMJ Section 1A and 1B presents townhouses with living spaces starting from 1,001sq ft with dedicated parking spaces in front of each unit, priced from RM150,000.

“I am very happy and excited to be one of the successful purchasers of an RMMJ 2 unit,” said Nur Fatiha Abdul Fadil, 23.

“Becoming a homeowner at such a young age is a dream come true and I am eagerly looking forward to seeing my new home take shape in the coming years.

“Meridin East’s strategic location and its proximity to my family home were key factors in my decision to participate in the balloting process.

“With the rapid development happening around Pasir Gudang, I am confident that investing in a home in this location is a wise choice for my future,” added Nur Fatiha.

Another successful purchaser, Yeow Pei Shi, 27, shared her delight during the certificate presentation ceremony.

“I am incredibly grateful and happy to have successfully balloted for an affordable home.

“This has helped alleviate the burden on young individuals like myself striving to own a home.

“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the local government and Mah Sing for their dedication in making homeownership more accessible to young people.

“Meridin East was my preferred choice due to its promising future as a thriving township, and I am confident that this investment will not only provide a comfortable living space but also be convenient for my daily needs,” said Yeow.

Launched in 2016, Meridin East is Mah Sing’s largest integrated township, encompassing residential, commercial and light industrial development across 531ha of land.
