Slope fortification 90% complete

SLOPES in Taman Bukit Permai, Ampang in Selangor, that are prone to rockfalls are being fortified to prevent further incidents.

Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) area councillor R. Moganraj said slope stabilisation work at the rock wall at Pangsapuri Intan was 90% completed.

“Rock netting has been installed. We have also done guniting (using spray gun to apply concrete to a surface) and rock nailing to strengthen the slope.

“At the same time, the hillslopes along Jalan Bukit Permai were cleared of large trees that were in danger of falling,” he told StarMetro.

An anti-climb fence along Jalan Bukit Permai has also been put up as a safety measure.

The stabilisation measures taken cost an estimated RM1.4mil.

A rockfall at Pangsapuri Intan in March last year damaged six vehicles inside the compound. No injuries were reported.

The slope is under the management of MPAJ, and stabilisation works started last October.

“Previously, we would get reports of

at least two or three rockfall incidents which affected the residents of Pangsapuri Intan.

“I hope there will not be any more such incidents,” said a resident who declined to be named.

He hoped the authorities could look into creating a multilevel parking facility at the apartment scheme.

“Currently, residents have no choice but to park near the slope due to lack of space,” he said.
