Foundation, govt agencies organise financial literacy workshop


Izmir conducting a session on financial management for a better future and sharing tips on scam prevention.

S P Setia Foundation and Selangor Zakat Board (LZS), along with Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB) and Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) organised a financial literacy workshop on fundamental financial management for 80 asnaf (the recipients).

The event, held at Baitus Salam Pusat Perlindungan Asnaf LZS in Shah Alam, was launched by LZS chairman Tan Sri Syed Anwar Jamalullail.

“This inaugural collaboration is a new benchmark for efforts to assist the community in need,” said Syed Anwar.

He presented Syawal baskets and zakat funds, in the form of Raya packets worth RM380 each, to 80 recipients.

The zakat funds were contributed by Perumahan Kinrara Bhd, one of S P Setia’s subsidiaries.

Also present were S P Setia Foundation chairman and S P Setia Bhd director Datuk Zuraidah Atan and LZS trustee member Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Abdullah.

The workshop was aimed at providing assistance in meeting the needs of Malaysians who are underprivileged, disabled, poverty-stricken or critically ill.

The first session of the workshop touched on financial management for a better future as well as tips on scam prevention, conducted by ASNB assistant vice-president Izmir Mohammad.

The second session was presented by AKPK’s Household Financial Education Department senior executive Muhd Khairil Ashraf Mohd Karid which focused on savings for families.

These workshop sessions equipped the community with essential skills in managing finances effectively, which can help them make more informed decisions on budgeting, savings and investments.

Others present were S P Setia director Tengku Datuk Abdul Aziz Mahmud, executive vice-presidents Datuk Zaini Yusoff and Datuk Yuslina Mohd Yunus, group branding and communications head Adelene Wong, Setia Foundation trustee Michael Teoh, LZS chief executive officer Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini and other representatives of the management teams of S P Setia Foundation and LZS, as well as corporate volunteers.
