A GAMING company held an outreach programme to help the needy in Selangor during the Chinese New Year (CNY) season.

A total of 53 selected homes and schools with more than 4,500 senior citizens, disabled persons and children in Selangor benefitted from the Welfare Outreach Programme organised by MagnumCares.

This is the 39th year that MagnumCares, which is a CSR initiative by Magnum Corporation, has held the programme aimed at benefitting more than 25,000 senior citizens, persons with disabilities and orphans nationwide.

Activities during CNY included the RM3,000 ang pow distribution to each welfare home, cheque presentation and the Home Enhancement Programme (HEP).

A total of RM129,000 was given to beneficieries as part of the ang pow distribution, while RM36,000 was donated to HEP.

Since Jan 7 this year, the MagnumCares teams have helped more than 220 welfare homes and schools in Selangor with a total of RM730,000 worth of contributions including cash and groceries.

Magnum ENE (Selangor & East Coast) regional operations manager Lim See Chin said the greatness of a community was measured by the compassionate actions of its members.

He added: “We are committed to empowering the community through our annual programmes, and by living up to the MagnumCares slogan ‘For You, With You’. We wish to spread kindness and hope to everyone.”

MagnumCares has also visited welfare homes to help implement the 3Rs (repairing, refurnishing, and replacing), such as installing eco-friendly LED lights and wiring, replacing old furniture, providing new kitchen appliances and painting the homes.

Also taking part in the festive programme were Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun, former Klang municipal councillor Yew Boon Lye and Magnum Group chief commercial officer Datuk Chan Chee Fai.
