More than 2,700 trading lots for Ramadan, Raya

Mohd Noorazam: Bazaar organisers will be briefed on licensing and cleanliness.

THIS year’s Ramadan and Hari Raya bazaars will have more than 2,700 trading lots at 50 locations in Johor Baru, says mayor Datuk Mohd Noorazam Osman.

Johor Baru City Council (MBJB), has received applications for 43 food bazaar locations with 2,312 lots as well as seven other locations that will be selling festive items and accessories.

This brings the total lots to 2,793 lots, he added.

“Bazaar organisers will be called to MBJB soon for a briefing on licensing and cleanliness.

“The traders are reminded to keep the locations clean, obtain a valid anti-typhoid jab and practice safe food handling,” he said.

“Traffic should also be managed well by hiring more Rela or security guards to prevent public complaints and traffic disruption,” he said when chairing the council’s full board meeting.

The fasting month for Muslims is expected to begin on March 22.
