Eye specialist’s new centre in Skudai aims to meet high demand in southern region

Vista Eye Specialist has opened its second centre in Johor Baru, bringing its total number of branches nationwide to 13.

The new centre, which began operations in November, is located in Sutera Utama, Skudai in Johor.

Starting out in 1999 in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Vista has served over 300,000 patients in 23 years.

The first branch in Johor Baru’s Mount Austin was opened in 2005 and has treated patients from Johor, Singapore and Indonesia.

“In April, we opened our 12th centre in Ipoh, Perak, adding to our existing three branches in Penang to serve the northern region.

“Now, our second branch in Johor Baru will help us meet the overwhelming demand in the southern region,” said centre manager Josephine Bong.

The new centre, with resident ophthalmologists Dr Chai Khai Siang and Dr New Sze Hui, takes up three shoplots in the popular Sutera Utama business district.

“We hope to be able to help more people in the Johor Baru area to see clearly, and to help give patients the better vision that they want,” said Dr Chai.

Since joining the Qualitas Health integrated network of clinics, Vista is pursuing an aggressive growth strategy to cater to the increasing demand in eye care services, partly due to the country’s ageing population.

Vista aims to be one of the largest and leading eye specialist groups in the region by doubling the number of centres over the next three years.
