A ROW of six shoplots at Komtar Walk, Penang, is expected to open before the next Chinese New Year which falls on Jan 22, 2023.

More events are also being planned for next year to help revitalise Komtar, which used to be a top draw for Penang residents.

PDC Setia Urus chief executive officer Ahmad Zuhairi Ismail said: “We know Komtar is very much a symbol for Penang itself, as it not only has government offices but also retail shops.

During a press conference at Komtar Walk in George Town, he said corporate events, a bazaar, educational and entertainment programmes were among the events planned to attract visitors, especially among the younger generation.

A health screening event was held on a recent Saturday at Komtar Walk.

It was jointly organised by PDC Setia Urus with various non-governmental organisations, Preschool Association, Macalister Village Community Management Council (MPKK), Life Community Service and JCI Penang.

Blessed Entertainment Enterprise manager Annie Toh said the objective of the event was to provide free health screenings to those in the B40 group.

Additionally, there was a Penang Pre-School Education Fair and Recycling Craft Competition which involved about 100 preschoolers.
