HEAVY rainfall is being reported in various parts of the Klang Valley including Puchong, Shah Alam, Hulu Langat, and Bandar Saujana Putra.
On social media, users said parts of the Silk Highway near the Sungai Ramal interchange and IOI City Mall are experiencing flash flooding.
At 1pm Saturday (Nov 12), the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued a thunderstorm warning for 12 states that are expected to see heavy rain and strong winds until 5pm.
Areas affected include Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya as well as in Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang).
At 3pm, the Sg Binjai hydrograph station in Meru, Klang recorded water levels at 4.2m, which is classified as dangerous.
Seri Kembangan recorded 78mm of rainfall in the span of one hour at 2.45pm.
The Malaysian Highway Authority reported that flash floods have occured along the Sungai Besi Expressway (Besraya) near the Serdang KTM Station and portions of the highway have been closed off with traffic diverted to the Silk Highway.
In Sepang, residents are also reporting flooding in residential areas in Kg Baru Dengkil as rainfall continues.
A fallen tree near the KLIA Interchange exit (Gamuda Cove City) is impeding traffic and has brought traffic to a crawl along the Elite highway. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
