Landscaping and murals in the works for Kepong Baru road

KEPONG Baru residents can look forward to better surroundings now that Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has approved a landscaping project in Jalan Ambong.

Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng said DBKL had approved his request for landscaping works and murals.

However, the budget is still being reviewed.

Lim said he had urged DBKL to beautify the 100m path on both sides of Jalan Ambong Kiri 1 to attract more visitors.

“In the future, visitors who get off at MRT Kepong Baru station can enjoy walking around the area, thanks to the landscaping.

“Many come to enjoy the myriad food choices at the hawker stalls in Kepong Baru.

“The hawker street of Jalan Ambong Kiri 3 alone has 60 stalls,” said Lim during a site visit.

“We have also proposed to DBKL to turn the area into a pedestrian-only street and that no cars be allowed to park or go through these paths.”

He said the ultimate aim was to turn Jalan Ambong Kiri and Jalan Ambong Kanan 1, 2, 3 and 4 into one-way streets.

“This will ease traffic congestion and make it easier to turn Kepong Baru into a tourist attraction.

“However, DBKL has not yet approved this plan due to budget constraints,” added Lim.
