Shahidan: Approvals given for concerts in KL to be reviewed to ensure suitability

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim. – Bernama

APPROVALS that have been given to concerts in Kuala Lumpur will be reviewed to ensure their suitability to the people, says Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.

"We have received complaints from the public that certain concerts do not contribute to youth development.

"We can enjoy entertainment, but at the same time, we want concerts to have a positive impact on the audience," he told a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur National Youth Day Celebration 2022 at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur.

Shahidan, however, did not specify the concerts in question.

Shahidan also said that his ministry, through Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), prepared venues for concerts to be held.

A committee in DBKL filters and issues approvals for these concerts, he added.

"We have a set of guidelines in giving approvals for concerts.

"But let's not bring entertainment that doesn't bring a positive impact to the community.

"We will look into these guidelines again," he said.
