Kluang placed fourth in state’s population census


KLUANG is the fourth most populated district in Johor, according to the latest figures released by the Statistics Department.

Kluang Municipal Council (MPKluang) president Norliyati Md Nor said the district had 323,762 residents out of four million statewide, with 55.4% of them being male.

“The male-to-female ratio in Kluang is 124:100 with 8.3% of the population being youths aged 15 to 40 and 5.8% aged 65 and above.

“Johor Baru has the highest number of residents, at some 1.7 million. The districts with the highest number of seniors aged 65 and above are Batu Pahat and Muar,” she said during the monthly full council meeting.

Norliyati also said that total sales value of RM301.9mil was recorded at this year’s Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri bazaars in Johor.

The sales were recorded from 61,623 stalls involving 156,361 workers, she stated.

She also gave the state capital’s figures: “Johor Baru recorded the highest sales value of RM126.3mil from 8,493 stalls involving 3,168 workers, while in Kluang, a total of RM30.4mil was made by 3,023 stalls involving 1,012 workers.”
