AFTER a two-year hiatus, Le French Film Festival 2022 has returned to Klang Valley cinemas.
It has a great line-up of French movies, food, arts and activities for children too.
The film festival was launched at GSC Mid Valley in Kuala Lumpur with the screening of Aline, a funny yet touching biopic of singer Celine Dion.
After Klang Valley, the event will move on to Penang, Johor Baru and Kota Kinabalu before ending its run on July 17.
Alliance Française of Kuala Lumpur (AFKL) president Tengku Zatashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah expressed her excitement to finally be able to celebrate the festival after the two-year gap due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We are pleased to be back with this festival for all, including children, through our Le Petit Festival programme.
“For those who prefer an evening of dining or exploring a theatrical performance, we are certain our line-up this year will not disappoint,” said Tengku Zatashah.
At the launch, Ambassador of France to Malaysia Roland Galharague said the festival was not only about bringing a selection of the best recent French movies to the country, but also an opportunity to share the French art de vivre (art of living) and the passion that the French and Malaysians have in common for gastronomy, music theatre and art.
AFKL director Violaine Dupic said each edition of the festival aimed to build bridges of mutual understanding and exchange between France and Malaysia.
“Art is an invitation to expand our imagination. French culture, just like the Malaysian culture, has many facets, which is enriching.
“We believe the French Film Festival reflects this and promotes interesting conversations,” said Dupic.
Francophiles, arts buffs and gourmands can enjoy the festival’s offerings in the Klang Valley until June 26, Penang (June 30 to July 10), Johor Baru (July 7 to 10) and Kota Kinabalu (July 14 to 17).
