MBSP to go cashless every Wednesday from June 1

“There will be a special counter to help senior citizens and customers who are not well-versed with cashless facilities.” - Datuk Azhar Arshad

Seberang Prai City Council (MBSP) in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam is dedicating Wednesdays as cashless transaction days at its payment counters from tomorrow.

Seberang Prai mayor Datuk Azhar Arshad said this was part of the city council’s digitalisation effort.

“Those who visit the MBSP payment counters to perform any transaction are advised to use digital apps such as Cyber Counter MBSP, MBSPPay, Jompay, e-boost and TNG e-wallet.

“We are preparing various kiosks to ensure a smooth operation.

“There will be a special counter to help senior citizens and customers who are not well-versed with cashless facilities,” he told Buletin Mutiara during a meeting.

Azhar said that other relevant services could also be performed online.

These include MBSP business licence renewal, name and postal address change for assessment as well as MBSP sports complex booking, assessment payment and MBSP compound and rental payment.

Applications for dog licences, car stickers for the disabled and banner stickers can also be done online.

“This cashless transaction move is deemed a catalyst to ensure excellent services from the council,” said Azhar.

On the hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) outbreak, Azhar urged the people in Seberang Prai to be vigilant and keep their neighbourhoods clean.

Azhar added that he was proud to learn that Seberang Prai emerged top in the One Planet City Challenge (OPCC) following a World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) announcement.
