Ramadan is often a time when acts of charity are intensified.
In line with this, digital payment company Grab Malaysia is encouraging Malaysians to step up their charitable practices by using the Grab app.
Now, Grab users can convert their GrabRewards into donations to benefit various charities.
With its “Jimat-jimat, Ingat-ingat” promotion, Grab Malaysia will match the value of every GrabRewards donation made throughout the Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri periods.
Charities and organisations that Grab users can support include Islamic Relief Malaysia, Pertiwi and Mercy Malaysia.
Grab Malaysia country marketing head Hassan Alsagoff said, “Whether it’s supporting a small local business or helping a community get back on its feet, Malaysians always go the extra mile to lend a helping hand.
“And being home-grown, we want to be right by their side every step of the way, making it even more seamless.
“With GrabRewards, we are able to offer Malaysians great savings and opportunities to do good.
“By matching each donation, we not only hope to encourage this act of giving even more but also show how savings you receive on Grab is an opportunity to help others too.
“We want to continue being the platform that helps Malaysians with their needs, be it with affordable everyday necessities, convenient ways to prepare for celebrations or even by providing avenues for Malaysians to help the less fortunate,” said Hassan.
During this time, Grab is also offering special deals and discounts across its services to help with festive needs.
With GrabUnlimited that’s now at an introductory price of 1sen, diners can enjoy savings of up to 50% on Ramadan favourites.
Scheduling orders for 8pm onwards will enable the use of Hot Deals and FreeDel vouchers for 50% discounts.
Grab is also introducing a travel pass at a special rate of RM4.90 that offers deals on Grab rides, flights, hotels and attractions across the country.
Its new Intercity feature offers 10% off bus and ferry tickets.
During this period, those sending gifts by Grab can earn additional GrabRewards and vouchers while the Super Sender Challenge offers prizes worth RM35,000.
Malaysians looking for Hari Raya outfits can look forward to GrabPay promotions, via GrabLive (Beta) that will allow them to preview the latest collections by Lilit and Zalora on April 16.
