Conditional yes to dogs in high-rises

ALTHOUGH Penang island’s current by-laws governing residents living in flats, apartments and condominiums forbid the keeping of pet dogs, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) knows that dog lovers living in high-rises have been flouting such laws.

MBPP councillor Connie Tan Hooi Peng said according to current by-laws, no dogs were allowed to be kept in all strata properties, but these would be changed soon to allow management committees (MC) and joint management bodies (JMB) to give conditional approval or what is commonly referred to as house rules.
