Retailer wins brand award for second year

Shafie dedicates the achievement to the store’s employees for their hard work and commitment.

Aeon Co (M) Bhd has won the Brand of The Year Award 2021/2022 in the Retailer-Departmental Stores category for the second consecutive year.

The retailer was nominated along with more than 500 brands from over 60 countries for the World Branding Awards.

The other national-tier winners for various categories were from Australia, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore.

Aeon managing director/chief executive officer Shafie Shamsuddin said, “We at Aeon are grateful to be named Brand of the Year for the Retailer-Departmental Stores category for the second consecutive year.

“Customers are always at the heart of everything we do as we embrace challenges with enthusiasm and steadfastness in full solidarity with our stakeholders.

“We continuously strive to give our best to cater to the needs of the customers for a pleasant shopping experience – offline and online – and in a safe environment while adjusting to the new normal.

“We dedicate this achievement to our employees, known as Aeon Warriors, for their hard work and commitment, as well as our business partners and customers for their loyal support.”

Shafie added that this recognition undoubtedly motivated them to continually challenge themselves to enhance their retail ecosystem by integrating technology, sustainability and human elements.

Over 1.3 million consumer votes were received since the inception of the awards and for this 14th edition, more than 345,000 consumers participated in the nomination process globally.

On average, there are only seven winning brands in each country, proving that winning a World Branding Award is a remarkable achievement.

The winners are judged through three streams: brand valuation, consumer market research and public online voting.

The announcement of all World Branding Awards 2021/2022 winners was made at the end of last year, through its first online ceremony from Kensington Palace, London in England.
