PUTRAJAYA’s annual Night Lighting Programme for National Day and Malaysia Day is inspired by the colours of the Jalur Gemilang this year.
Unlike the previous years where colourful lights adorned the city landmarks, Putrajaya Corporation (PjC) president Datuk Muhammad Azmi Mohd Zain said it has chosen to go with predominantly three colours this time – red, blue and yellow.
He said these three colours plus the white background made up the four colours of the Malaysian flag.
“Some of the beautiful displays of changing LED lights can be seen at the Prime Minister’s Office, Communication and Multimedia Ministry building, Zenith Hotel, Seri Wawasan Bridge and Seri Saujana Bridge.
“Putrajaya Corporation Complex, Palace of Justice, Federal Territories Ministry building and Menara PJH will also be adorned with festive lights throughout the celebratory period – beginning with the Raise the Flag campaign and National Month launch on Aug 7 until Malaysia Day on Sept 16,” he said.
A total of 8,625 flags and buntings were put up all over the city.
Muhammad Azmi said 2,235 flags were hung on lamp posts, bridges and PjC properties; 2,390 flags put up in the parks; and another 4,000 flags were distributed to the communities.
“Besides four existing billboards at the entrances of the city, we have also put up 2.4m by 3m billboards at 15 locations around the city and a giant bunting at the PjC complex arch, with Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day visuals as well as messages on our fight for ‘independence’ from Covid-19,” he said.
Separately, PjC is offering a flat discount of RM50 and RM20 on all traffic summonses and compounds, respectively, until Sept 17.
Muhammad Azmi said PjC has no set target for collection but advised the people to take the opportunity to settle their summonses and compounds.
He added that 4,183 summonses and compounds totalling RM149,525 were settled last year.
