A HUSBAND and wife who are vegetable sellers at the SS2 morning market have tested positive for Covid-19 and the market association has decided to shut the market for five days starting from Thursday (Aug5).
All traders have agreed to close from Thursday until Monday (Aug 9) and the market will be reopened next Tuesday (Aug 10), said Persatuan Penjaja dan Peniaga Kecil Pasar SS2 Petaling Jaya chairman Leng Chin Huat.
“We are thankful that Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lim Yi Wei has agreed to sponsor the sanitisation works which will be carried out on Saturday,” Leng said.
He added that the market has 184 traders and the majority agreed to the closure as they were concerned about their safety and that of their customers.
Meanwhile, a Petaling Jaya City Council spokesperson said the full closure was the initiative of the market traders.
However, the council advised all market traders and food court operators to ensure those who were of high risk as shown on the MySejahtera application did not enter their premises.
The council would not hesitate to carry out enforcement tasks in case any of the standard operating procedures under the National Recovery Plan were not followed.
