Two more venues offered as vaccination centres

Setia Spice Arena and Setia Spice Convention Centre PPVs will be administering up to 10,000 doses in total a day.

PROPERTY developer SP Setia has offered two additional venues to be part of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

This will bring the number to six SP Setia venues operating as the government’s vaccination centres (PPVs) across the nation, of which four are mega PPVs.

It currently holds the record for the highest daily record of vaccines administered and is expected to increase to a total of approximately 26,800 doses administered daily at SP Setia vaccination centres.

“With Covid-19 cases hitting 17,000 cases recently, the programme’s speed must be increased to achieve the desired inoculation of 80% of the population soonest possible,” said SP Setia senior executive vice-president Datuk Seri Koe Peng Kang.

PPVs Setia City Convention Centre 1 & 2 (SCCC1 & SCCC2) in Setia Alam and Setia Spice Arena in Penang started operations in June.

Its PPVs at Setia Eco Templer Clubhouse in Rawang and Setia EcoHill Club 360 in Semenyih started operations last month.

Another mega PPV, Setia Spice Convention Centre, started operations on Sunday.

“All our PPVs operate under strict standard operating procedure imposed by the government.

“With this assurance, we hope more will come forward to receive their vaccines allotted at our PPVs, according to their appointments,” added Koe.

Setia Eco Templer Clubhouse kick-started its vaccination operations on July 26 at its Templer Ballroom and Club Terrace.

The PPV is expected to administer an average of 750 doses of vaccines a day in the first week, eventually targeting 2,500 doses a day in the following weeks.

The PPV is facilitated by around 150 volunteers and medical staff, supported by Team Setia daily.

Setia EcoHill Club 360’s Amber Hall started its PPV operations on July 5 and is currently seeing up to 1,300 people vaccinated daily.

Operations are supported by combined efforts of more than 100 public servants, medical personnel and Team Setia volunteers daily.

The PPV is also allowing walk-ins for senior citizens aged 60 and above.

Following the start of the national programme at SCCC2 on June 7, the mega PPV expanded its capacity and began its process for Covid-19 Industry Immunisation Programme (Pikas) on June 28 at SCCC1.

This PPV is currently inoculating up to 3,000 individuals daily under Pikas whereas SCCC2, under the national programme, serves up to 10,000 people daily.

Walk-ins for those above 60 years without MySejahtera vaccination appointments are allowed at SCCC2, subject to availability.

Setia Spice Arena was administering up to 3,000 doses daily until July 28 and from then on, it will give 2,000 doses until Aug 7.

This will be increased to 5,000 doses a day starting Aug 8.

Setia Spice Convention Centre, which will be operational as an additional mega PPV venue in Penang island, targets to administer 5,000 doses daily starting this month, further accelerating the vaccination process in the state.

“We hope with more and more private sector companies coming in to assist the government on this initiative, we will be able to achieve herd community very soon and this will inadvertently spur the Malaysian economy into its recovery phase,” Koe said.
