IN a bid to help Covid-19 victims battle the virus, Penang Buddhist Tzu Chi Merit Society Malaysia donated a ventilator, a patient monitor and two syringe pumps to Penang Hospital.
Society commissioner Khoo Boo Leong, who handed over the devices to Penang Hospital on Monday, said the society decided to provide the devices after holding discussions on the needs of the hospital.
“This is the society’s ongoing commitment to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Khoo when contacted on Monday.
“The devices will be used in the intensive care unit at the hospital.
“Since the onset of the pandemic last year, Tzu Chi has been rendering support to medical facilities.
“The society has donated vital medical equipment to hospitals and personal protective equipment to frontliners,” added Khoo.
So far, the society has provided emergency aid to more than 38,000 people.
“These people were given aid either in the form of money or essential items, based on their needs,” he added.
