A GAMER on Twitch organised a 24-hour live stream which raised RM5,848.55 for charity.

Daniel Chin, who goes by the moniker “AnehChan123”, decided to organise the event to celebrate reaching over 1,000 followers on the online platform.

The proceeds went to Great Heart Charity Association (GHCA), a Malaysian non-profit that assists the B40 group, Orang Asli, senior citizens, orphans and people with disabilities.

Chin kept the gaming community occupied by conducting games like Jackbox, In-house Valorant and Among Us, karaoke sessions, cooking and other activities throughout the 24 hours.

The fundraiser succeeded thanks to the efforts of volunteers who assisted until the very end, including GHCA social media managers Chor Mun Yan and Natashya Khoo.

Khoo also participated in a few games after giving a presentation on the background of GHCA and its charitable activities.

Chor took the opportunity to interact with gamers who flooded the chatbox with questions and heartfelt wishes.

The funds raised will help pay for the subsidised treatment of three dialysis patients over a period of three months.

“I have never really done anything like this before but I really wanted to support the association’s efforts.

“I was glad to be able to use this platform to make a small difference in others’ lives,” said Chin, adding that he wanted to give back for all that he had been blessed with.

“I am so happy to work with Great Heart Charity and these beautiful, hard-working human beings.”

Twitch is home to creators streaming video games, music and sports, among others.

GHCA was established in 2010 and all donations are tax-exempted. Learn more at greatheartcharity.org.my.
