YU Cai Foundation (YCF) is providing sponsorships to eligible students who are newly enrolled at vernacular secondary schools (SMJK) this year.
The sponsorship, which is for five years from Form 1 to 5, is up to a maximum of RM2,000 per year per student.
Online applications are now open until Feb 11.
Interested parties can submit the application via the link on the YCF website.
Those unable to submit their applications online can download the PDF form from the website and submit the hardcopy to YCF.
Applicants must be Malaysian citizens who have completed primary education at Chinese or Tamil vernacular schools.
The applicant must have successfully enrolled with a vernacular secondary school, and his or her family’s household monthly income should not exceed RM6,250.
Recipients of other scholarships/bursary will not be considered.
YCF head Simpson Khoo said, “The foundation provides sponsorships to eligible students of all races to continue their learning of vernacular languages, hoping that their proficiency in these languages will be enhanced to the next level.
“We believe in promoting Malaysia’s multilingual and multicultural education system that will enhance the capabilities and competitiveness of our next generation in the global context.”
YCF, launched in January 2015, is a charitable initiative of Tan Sri Ananda Krishnan and Usaha Tegas Group of Companies.
Its objective is to help students achieve their maximum potential through education.
YCF believes that education can change a person’s life and recognises that a complete education system comprises of three key components - teachers, students, and facilities.
The foundation also provides science apparatus to equip school laboratories, with the overall aim to develop the interest of students in science-related subjects.
Over five years, YCF has sponsored up to RM20mil through various programmes.
