ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor government is building two new premises for the Kluang Municipal Council (MPK) and Kluang District and Land Office.

Presently, MPK office is located on Jalan Kota Tinggi while the Kluang District and Land Office is located on Jalan Pejabat Kerajaan in Kluang town.

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said the government hopes the new buildings would help improve morale among the staff of both MPK and the district land office and further improve their service to the community there.

He added that the development was also an appreciation for the staff’s contributions in looking after the rakyat’s welfare.

“The new buildings would be constructed in a strategic area, which will allow the public to carry out their affairs easily and in a conducive environment as this development is planned holistically.

“The buildings will provide many amenities such as cafeteria, security post, a bus stop, ATM kiosk, TNB substation and many more, ” he added.

Hasni said this in his speech during the groundbreaking ceremony of MPK and Kluang District and Land Office carried out virtually at Kota Iskandar here.

Also present were Johor Deputy State Secretary (Development) Datuk Dr Badrul Hisham Kassim, Johor State Secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani and state housing and local government committee chairman Ayub Jamil.

He added that Kumpulan Prasarana Rakyat Johor (KPRJ), through its subsidiary KPRJ Builders, has been given the approval to start construction of the two buildings.

“The state government believes that with a good record in infrastructure development in Johor, KPRJ will be able to execute the trust given to them and provide added value to the new buildings, ” he said.

Both buildings will be located on Jalan Persiaran Utama within Bandar New Park.

The new nine-storey MPK building will be built within a 2.02ha land area while the Kluang District and Land Office building within a 2.63ha land area.

The buildings are scheduled to be completed by January 2024.

Meanwhile, KPRJ chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Noorazam Osman said as the main developer for the project, it would ensure that project delivery deadlines were met, without sacrificing quality.

MPK president Mohd Rafi Abdullah said the new building would be more comfortable for both its staff and customers.

“It will not only upgrade MPK’s image but also can add more value in our quality as well as improve our efficiency in serving the people in Kluang, ” he added.

Meanwhile, Kluang District Officer Ismail Abu was grateful that the district office would be completed in a short period.

“With this new building, all departments under the office would be more organised to provide better service to the people, ” he said.
