ISKANDAR PUTERI: Staying healthy and active is easier now with the opening of an integrated sports centre here.

ONE°15 Estuari Sports Centre general manager Brian Werner said the ongoing pandemic had highlighted the importance of maintaining good health and lifestyle habits to boost immunity against viruses including the common flu.

“Besides the variety of physical activities offered by our centre’s facilities, we hope our guests will come to find a sanctuary of rest and relaxation at the centre, ” he said.

Sprawling over 13,000sq metres, the complex boasts five tennis courts, five badminton courts, two squash courts, a 50m Olympic-sized swimming pool, a rock-climbing wall, fitness centre and a pool cafe.

The sports centre, which includes studios dedicated to martial arts and indoor sports, was launched by Johor tourism, youth and sports committee chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

SUTL Enterprise executive director and chief executive officer Arthur Tay said the launch was a milestone, in line with the group’s vision to create a lifestyle sporting hub and enhance vibrancy and energy in the community.

“More importantly, it serves as a prelude to the much-anticipated opening of ONE˚15 Marina Puteri Harbour, our upcoming development located just five to 10 minutes’ drive away.

A spinning room is among the sports centre’s facilities.

“The marina’s construction works will commence in the first quarter of next year, following unforeseen and temporary disruptions due to Covid-19 border controls between Malaysia and Singapore.

“We hope to promote the joys of yachting and other sports-related events among families, friends and business people alike, ” said Tay.

He added that upon the clubhouse’s completion in 2023, members would be able to enjoy dual membership perks that granted them access to both the marina and sports centre.

SUTL Enterprise is a marina developer, operator and consultant.

UEM Sunrise managing director and chief executive officer Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib said the opening of the sports centre was the result of a joint venture between SUTL Enterprise and UEM Land Bhd, a subsidiary of UEM Sunrise.

“As a master developer of Iskandar Puteri, we envisioned a vibrant community to breathe life into our high-quality developments.

“With the new sports centre to add prestige and unique value to our Puteri Harbour expansion plans, this will also contribute to making Iskandar Puteri a truly sustainable community, ” he said.
