Joining forces to keep frontliners safe

TROPICANA Corporation Bhd and Thai Odyssey Sdn Bhd joined forces to produce and donate face shields to KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital.

The initiative was part of Tropicana’s corporate social responsibility efforts to give back to the community, this time in the ongoing fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia.

With healthcare professionals in private hospitals still in need of protective gear, the property developer and wellness centre operator decided to join forces and make face shields for KPJ Damansara front-line workers.On hand to present the boxes of Tropicana-Thai Odyssey face shields to KPJ Damansara chief executive officer Fawziah Muhammad were Tropicana executive director Mohd Zapi Abdullah and Thai Odyssey managing director Dr Leon Chuah.

“This donation from Tropicana and Thai Odyssey is much appreciated as the items will help to keep all of us safe, ” Fawziah said.

Mohd Zapi urged Malaysians to continue supporting frontliners.

“These are unprecedented times and many healthcare frontliners are working under extraordinary circumstances.

“We hope Malaysians will continue to stay vigilant and follow the government’s standard operating procedure.

“They should continue to contribute in reducing the burden on our healthcare frontliners in recognition of the fact that the war against Covid-19 is far from over, ” he said.

Chuah said Thai Odyssey was happy to assist those on the front lines fighting the pandemic.

“We would like to thank Tropicana for the chance to work together in producing and donating these much-needed face shields, ” he said.

KPJ Damansara received a total of 3,000 face shields along with items like sponge sheets, binding covers and elastic bands.

The specifications for the face shields complied with the hospital’s standards.

Prior to this initiative, Tropicana had donated RM1.5mil worth of medical equipment and supplies to hospitals and health departments identified by the Health Ministry.

It had also donated 200,000 face masks to the Selangor government for distribution to front line personnel.

In appreciation for the sacrifices and dedication of healthcare workers, Thai Odyssey offered free massage vouchers to all frontliners. A total of 177 claimed them.
