The Ormond Group and ECM Libra Bhd are raising funds for four charities through the #DemiNegara (For the Nation) package.
It is available at participating Tune Hotels in Malaysia, The Chow Kit – An Ormond Hotel and MoMo’s Kuala Lumpur.
A total of 15% of sales from this package will be donated to Tenaganita, Human Aid Selangor Society (HASS) Kechara Soup Kitchen and Global Peace Malaysia.
The #DemiNegara package is part of a “Sayang-Sayang Malaysia” campaign with discounts for Malaysians to travel and discover the country once MCO restrictions ease and will be available for bookings until Dec 31.
“Global travel and hospitality have been hard hit. However, Malaysia still has many hidden local gems and places to discover.
“We hope that these discounts will enable all Malaysians, to come together, through travel, to get our country, our people and our communities back on their feet again,” said Ormond Group chief executive officer Gareth Lim.
The initiative is focused on helping four vulnerable communities – migrant workers, refugees, indigenous groups and the urban poor.
Tenaganita and HASS are non-governmental organisations that provide support to migrant workers and refugees who are among the worst hit by the pandemic.
Kechara has been providing meals to the urban poor throughout Malaysia while Global Peace Malaysia has been spearheading basic aid and education for indigenous communities.
Meanwhile, ECM Libra Foundation and the group have concluded their support of healthcare workers at Tune Hotel Kuala Lumpur where 200 Hospital Kuala Lumpur employees were housed for 45 days and 4,531 room nights.
The group will also extend a 30% discount to all healthcare workers, the police and army personnel involved in the fight against Covid-19 at any of its hotels.
ECM Libra has also been involved in easing frontliners’ woes by funding the purchase of personal protective equipment and ventilators. It has also supported the provision of food packages for Orang Asli in Pahang as well as the urban poor and refugees in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
