Year of the Rat mascot spreads festive cheer

TO USHER in the Year of the Rat, Astro Malaysia visited Star Media Group Bhd’s (SMG) office in Menara Star, Petaling Jaya, with its mascot Hao Yun Shu.

With its cute face and big smile, the Astro Chinese New Year 2020 mascot brought cheer to SMG employees when it greeted them at the event.

Celebrating the year with its campaign themed “Say Cheese, Fortune is Yours”, the visit by Astro kickstarted with an energetic lion dance performance by two bright pink lions.

“We would like to thank Star Media Group for welcoming us to their office every year to usher in the Chinese New Year together with our CNY mascot and talents, ” said Astro chief executive officer Henry Tan.

Also present were Astro director of communications Tammy Toh and Chinese Customer Business vice-president Wong Siah Ping.

The visitors were met by SMG group chief executive officer Andreas Vogiatzakis and senior management.

Hitz FM presenters Ean and Arnold, who were emcees at the event, hyped it up further with their bubbly personalities.

Also present were the top three winners of Miss Astro Chinese International Pageant 2019 Jens Cheong, Rennie Lau and Chan Lee Xuan; Rocket Fuel Talent singers Nicole Lai, Jacqueline Tiang and Danny Koo; MyFM announcers Jie Ying and Jack Yap as well as Melody FM announcers Anson and Sam.

During the event, SMG employees made a beeline for the games counter and tried their luck to win Astro ang pow packets, goodie bags and merchandise.

The event ended with the visitors handing out notebooks and more ang pow as well as Hao Yun Shu balloons.
