Welcoming 2020 in style at Sunway

SUNWAY City is the go-to place for revellers wishing to usher in the New Year in a vibrant atmosphere.

The Amazing 2020 New Year’s Eve Countdown Concert at Sunway City took the celebration to new heights with a packed schedule of entertainment and performances.

Guests waiting for the countdown to begin, first enjoyed feasting on local and international cuisines in the company of family and friends at Sunway Hotel Resort & Spa’s The Resort Cafe.

For the young and the young at heart, Sunway Lagoon hosted the largest neon party in Malaysia, the “Cloudora” festival to usher in the new year at the country’s largest man-made surf beach.

International deejays such as Tori Levett, Hook N Sling and Woodland brought the neon-lit enchanted forest set-up to life with breathtaking beats.

Meanwhile, in Sunway Pyramid, festive celebrations took place in all corners of the mall — from The Great Christmas Market inspired by the Dresden Christmas Market in Germany at the blue concourse to the Bank of Fortune set-up which consisted of a draft bank (predecessor to modern banks) in the orange concourse — where visitors were spotted busily taking photographs.

Even before sunset, throngs of party-goers started flooding the stage area located adjacent to the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa for the mega-street concert.

Celebrities including Karen Kong, De Fam, Kingsman, Midnight Fusic and Alvin Chong wowed the crowd with their melodic tunes and upbeat tempos.

Sunway Group brand marketing and communications senior general manager Jane Poh said Sunway’s new year celebrations had always been about paying tribute to the community.

“We are a community developer and we believe engaging with the community is very important.

“This is why there is always something for everyone at our new year’s celebrations with more than 30,000 joining in, ” said Poh.

She added that Sunway had many interesting activities in store for the new year, in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2020.

“As a premier tourist destination, we are gearing up for the year with many attractive offerings which we will be announcing soon, ” said Poh.

When the clock struck midnight, the crowd was mesmerised by spectacular fireworks, ending with a “2020” emblazoned against the night sky.
