ICONIC Indian playback singers S.P. Balasubrahmanyam and K.S. Chitra will perform at a charity concert in Penang tomorrow.
They will be accompanied by their comrades Anand Aravindakshan and Ranjani and a few local artistes at the show at 7pm at Dewan Tuanku Syed Putra, Universiti Sains Malaysia in George Town.
Harisara Productions chief executive officer Harisara Deva, who is the event coordinator, said the three-hour show would be a musical treat for Penangites, as the last time the duo performed here was some 25 years ago.
“S.P. Bala will perform some 16 solo songs, including ‘Chumma Kizhi’ from Rajinikanth’s soon-to-be-released movie Darbar, while Chitra will deliver several solo and duet numbers with him.
“Part of the show’s proceeds will go towards the family of former lorry driver P. Santhirasekaran from Butterworth, whose wife S. Vasuki is a kidney patient.
“Vasuki is blind in one eye and had a leg amputated due to diabetes.
“She requires regular dialysis and her husband has no proper income since he quit his job to take care of her, ” he said.
Harisara said some 100 children from three welfare homes would also be treated to the concert.
He said tickets for the concert which were selling fast, were limited to 2,200 persons only due to the hall space.
The SPB & Chitra Live in Penang Concert is jointly organised by Rave Corporate Training Sdn Bhd and MVM Productions.
